This week we have Kale (yum!) the last asparagus of the season, more salad mix, salad coming out my ears!, fresh peas, pea vines which I am not sure how you use but I will find something.  Then there is an unidentifiable bunch, one thing said mint, another said spinach, but it is neither.  Mystery Greens!

So this safe little city

June 19, 2008 by hed27

is a little more dangerous than previously believed.  Out for a stroll with J&W, grab some DQ, get a drink and some food good times.  Let’s go look at apts for them to purchase no prob.

We’re crossing the street to look at an apt listing, when a guy starts shouting, “she has a knife, get away, watch out, she has a knife”  W totally ignores and is heading to look at the listing, while i’m trying to push her out of the way.  The Perp?  A little old grandma/bag lady, who’d stabbed this frat boy (in a wife beater and flannel PJ bottoms) is shuffling away.  Meanwhile he’s holding the knife, on his cell with 911 and trying to get everyone away from her.

The lady ran up to an apt across the street and watched out the window as the police showed up and eventually had to go arrest her.  The jock refused to go in the ambulance, the ever growing audience thought that was pretty bada**.  DRAMA RAMA and all on a Wed.

One ambulance, one fire truck, two patrol cars, one undercover car and one ATV 4-wheeler lady, the lady was taken away.  Whew.

Saturday Walk-A-Thon

The goal was to go to the Chicago Green Market which is at the south end of Lincoln Park. I’m several blocks north of the north end of LP so it’s kind of a hike. But I figured it would be nice either way. Except the Green Market closed at 1:30 and I got a late start due to Euro 2008 and got there at 1:45. Sigh. Next time I ride my bike. Anyway, got some nice pics of the park, then when I tried to find my way home I got a little detoured (cough, lost, cough) but found some cute sculptures in someone’s fancy yard so it was all good.

Crazies to come

June 10, 2008 by hed27

obviously unemployment has it benefits, like an extended summer vacation, hey I’m not complaining!  I went for a bike ride along the lake today.  It’s gorg and hard to believe I actually live here now.  bizzaro. but there are so many crazies along the lake that I must have photographic evidence.  from now on, the camera comes with me.  otherwise how am i going to prove the guy swimming miles upon miles by himself or the weird homeless man who was almost naked and weightlifting?

Thunderous downpours, severe storm warnings, lots of booze, tarps and blankets.  You can’t see the man but he’s not that much to look at anyway :)
