Not too bad! 30 minutes roundtrip to get my new ID. You know there is a potential for a wait when they have tents set up outside for the peeps waiting in line! I guess timing it during Bush’s speech was a good idea!

100- number of machine guns on 2nd ave
5-number of sniffer dogs checking out cars
1- number of evacuations drills being held in my building when I returned. Somehow, my floors aren’t effected so I waltzed right in.

Live blogging the General Assembly

or at least all the random stuff I’m destined to see this week…

My office is on 3rd Ave, closer to Grand Central (Every year at this time, I am sooo happy not to be working right at the UN) and we happen to share a building with the Governor as well as the NY State Homeland Security Dept.

Imagine then, the scene this am when I roll up to work…standing on a roof deck on the 3rd story of the building across the street is a man playing bagpipes with a large American flag hanging from it. Cut to the street and there were about 10 Secret Service guys staring him down. I’m waiting for the snipers as we speak…

coming tomorrow…I have to go to the UN pass office to get my ID renewed. GOOD TIMES>

So there’s this lady

that lives in an apt on my block. She is always out sitting on the stoop or wandering around with her dog. She looks like she might have just wandered out of an insane asylum…almost always talking to herself, totally disheveled but the kicker is the lipstick that is usually smeared around her mouth. Hence the name: Crazy Lipstick Lady.

Now she’s really very harmless, I say hi to her when I see her and she is definitely a neighborhood fixture, walking her mangy mutt all over Hell’s Kitchen.

Today however, today was a new level. As I’m passing her on my way to work this morning, I was about to say hi, when suddenly she yelled, “Fix my foot!” to no one in particular. Of course she did this when I was right next to her and I nearly jumped through the window of the store next to me! The worst part was, I looked down at her feet and she was rocking some pretty nice Pumas! Nothing bad that I could see.

Good weekend

It’s starting to cool off, the weather was beautiful! Lots of football- Go Broncos! Brunches, walking around outside, watching baseball in the bar. Very enjoyable. And let’s hope it sticks this time, eh OJ? sheesh

We spot Gavin, of course I don’t notice until a second too late by which time I’m shouting to my friends, “OMG, that’s not Gavin Rossdale” while he’s literally right next to me. OOPS.
